Srinagar, Oct 25 (KNO): The students of various educational institutes in Kashmir on Friday staged a protest against the government’s decision of ruling out any relaxation in syllabus for their upcoming exams. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), students assembled at press colony Srinagar, and registered a fresh protest demanding 40 percent relaxation in their syllabus. The students demanded 40 per cent relaxation in syllabus citing the closure of their schools as the reason of curtailment in syllabus. Few students were holding placards that read as, “Students, victims of politics”, “Governor is adamant towards the plight of students”. The protesting students requested the Governor to intervene on this by passing an order of 40 per cent relaxation in syllabus on humanitarian grounds. Insha Bhat, a student protestor told KNO, “We are not fully prepared for the exams as the closure of our schools for near about two months which means a lot.” She said that, the internet gag which is still in place was another reason for missing out a major portion of syllabus during the closure of schools. She further added, “The Government ruled out any concessions in syllabus which is sheer injustice on us and that’s the sole reason we are protesting. It seems as if we are treated as a dejected lot.” Umer Ameen (name changed), another protesting student said that, “ Nobody is listening to us as we are left on the mercy of God and unfortunately our school administration is even acting like a mute spectator in all this.” He said that if Governor will not intervene on this most of the students will fail in the upcoming exams due to the non-completion of syllabus. He further added, “We are left with no options other than protests, how can we cover the pending syllabus during the suspension of classwork at our institutions and ongoing internet clampdown. (KNO)
